
Midwifery and Women's Health Care
Anchorage Birth Center is part of Midwifery and Women’s Health Care (MWHCanchorage), a mixed-practice group of certified direct-entry midwives (CDMs) and certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) based in Anchorage, Alaska. Since 1995, they provide full-scope midwifery and women’s health services, including out-of-hospital births at the Anchorage Birth Center and hospital births (via CNMs with Providence Hospital privileges), well-woman care for ages 13–65, annual exams, contraception, STI treatment, paps, and other screenings. They emphasize collaborative care with physicians for higher-risk pregnancies and VBAC support. The organization operates 3 offices in Alaska (HQ in Anchorage) and employs about 11 staff.
