How does a clinic rate against its city?

Enter a city to see every clinic listed there ranked by rating, with the median every practice is actually competing against - and how many reviews it takes to sit in the middle.

Why the median, not the average

A few 5.0 clinics with two reviews each pull an average upward and make an ordinary practice look worse than it is. The median is the middle clinic: half the city above, half below. It is the number worth moving.

What this does not tell you

Whether the care is good. Ratings measure who was asked and who answered. Most practices sit under 4.0 because only unhappy patients review unprompted, which is a prompting problem rather than a quality one.

Questions

Where do these ratings come from?

They are the ratings already published on review platforms, normalised to a five-point scale and averaged across the platforms a clinic appears on. We do not collect ratings ourselves and we do not weight or adjust them - this tool only counts and sorts what is already public.

My clinic is not here.

Then it is not in this directory for that city, or it is listed under a different city name - a practice on the edge of a metro is often filed under the suburb rather than the city. Nothing on this page adds or removes a listing.

Why compare against the median and not the average?

Because a handful of 5.0 clinics with two reviews each drags an average upward and makes every ordinary practice look below par. The median is the middle clinic, so half the city sits above it and half below, which is the comparison a practice actually wants.

Is a higher rating the same as better care?

No. Review counts and scores reflect who was asked and who bothered to answer, not clinical outcomes. Most practices sit below 4.0 because only dissatisfied patients leave reviews unprompted. Treat this as a reputation snapshot, not a quality measure.

Large cities say the list is capped - why?

The directory API returns at most 200 clinics per request, so in the largest cities the comparison runs against the first 200 rather than every listing. The page tells you when that has happened, because a rank out of a truncated field is not a rank.
