Brown University Health (formerly Lifespan) is a nonprofit health system based in Providence, RI, formed in 1994. It includes multiple teaching and community hospitals affiliated with The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, such as Rhode Island Hospital (and Hasbro Children’s), The Miriam Hospital, and Bradley Hospital (first psychiatric hospital for children). It also encompasses Newport Hospital, Saint Anne’s Hospital, Morton Hospital, Gateway Healthcare ( Rhode Island’s largest community behavioral health provider), and Brown Health Medical Group (largest multi-specialty practice in RI). The system operates across hospitals and community health services to deliver broad health care, with headquarters in Providence.
