What this is not

A measure of healthcare access. Every figure counts clinics in this directory, so a city's numbers move when our coverage changes. Quoting one of these as a statement about a city's healthcare would be wrong, and we would rather say so here than have it quoted that way.

Questions

Does this measure how good healthcare is in a city?

No, and it is important not to read it that way. Every number here describes the clinics listed in this directory and nothing else. A city with few listings may be under-covered by us rather than under-served in reality, and a high share of 4.0+ ratings reflects the clinics we hold records for, not the quality of care available locally.

Why is the percentage worked out from rated clinics instead of all of them?

Because roughly a quarter of listings carry no rating on any platform. Dividing by every listing would make a city look poor when it is really just unmeasured. The share figures use rated clinics as the denominator, and the unrated count is shown separately so you can see how much of the picture is missing.

Why do some cities have no rank?

A percentage over a handful of clinics is noise. Cities with fewer than 25 rated clinics keep their own figures but are not ranked, because one clinic moving would swing the number by several points. 1,398 of 1,711 cities clear that bar.

Cities share names - which one is this?

All of them. City records are matched on name, so a card for Columbus covers every Columbus in the directory rather than one state's. Treat a shared name as a group of cities, not a place.

How current is this?

The figures were built on 2026-10-06 from the live directory. They are rebuilt by hand rather than on a schedule, so a card can lag new listings by a few weeks.
