Mass General Brigham (MGB) is a nonprofit, integrated health system based in Greater Boston, formed in 1994 (formerly Partners HealthCare) and now headquartered in Somerville, MA. It operates Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital along with specialty and community hospitals, home care, urgent care, and a licensed health plan. As of 2024, MGB employs about 82,000 people and generates roughly $20.6 billion in operating revenue, making it one of the region’s largest employers. MGB is a principal teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School and is known for system-wide governance and cost-management initiatives, including a 2022 Performance Improvement Plan. The system has undergone restructuring and layoffs in 2025 and expanded affiliations/divestitures in cancer care in the Boston area. Key locations include its Somerville HQ (399 Revolution Dr.) and Boston’s 800 Boylston St. MGB’s offerings span hospitals, specialty care, and health plan services across Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.
